I currently work as Senior Research Investigator in the Department of Computer and Information Science (CIS) at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, on leave from the French National Research Center (CNRS) where I hold a tenure researcher position. I am also associated with the NLP group in the Department of Informatics at the Athens University of Economics and Business. From 2019 to 2021, I worked as Senior Researcher in the Language Technology lab at the University of Helsinki, Department of Digital Humanities, Finland. Since 2017, I hold an adjunct appointment in the Computer and Information Science Department at the University of Pennsylvania.
I joined the CNRS in 2011 and worked as a Researcher for almost 8 years at the LIMSI lab. From 2010 to 2011, I was a postdoctoral researcher at INRIA-Rocquencourt (Alpage team) in Paris, France. Before that, I worked as a Senior Researcher in the Language and Translation Technology Team at University College Ghent, Belgium. My first postdoctoral position (2008-2009) was in the Machine Translation group of the National Centre for Language Technology (NCLT) at Dublin City University (DCU), Ireland. I received a PhD in Theoretical, Descriptive and Computational Linguistics from the University Paris 7 - Denis Diderot, Faculty of Linguistics, in 2008. The topic of my thesis was "Automatic sense acquisition for word sense disambiguation and lexical selection in translation". During my PhD, I obtained a Marie Curie Host Fellowship for Early Stage Research Training at the University of Bergen, Norway, where I worked with Prof. Helge Dyvik. I hold a Master's degree in Mathematics, Informatics and their Applications in Human Sciences from the University Paris 4-Sorbonne. Before that, I followed the Master's on Language Technology at the Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP) in Athens, jointly organized by the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University and the Department of Linguistics of the University of Athens. I earned my first Master's in Translation Science at the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting of the Ionian University, Greece. I did my undergraduate studies at the University of Athens.
